TAG’S MISSION

The Technology Alliance Group (TAG) was founded as a 501(c)6 non-profit organization in 1999 to advocate for technology and foster innovation in NW Washington, and provide community for industry, businesses, professionals, and students.

Today, TAG has more than 3,000 stakeholders and is committed to its mission is engage, inspire and support the local tech community.

Community Connections + Events

Working with all types of local professionals and companies as well as our local and state representatives to build our tech community with events that attract business leaders from around the NW, different networking opportunities and a variety of professional development activities.

Infrastructure + Economic Development

Advocating for the tech community’s access to improved tech and business infrastructure and sitting on the Port of Bellingham, Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Choose Whatcom advocacy and economic development groups.

Helping Businesses

TAG is a 501(c)6 organization that advocates to local, state and federal government representatives for policies and laws that strengthen and support all tech companies and their ability to do business (taxes, facilities, parking, traffic).

Workforce + Educational Development

Working with our region’s higher education institutions to ensure we have a well-trained and skilled talent base for companies to draw on for employees.

1. ANNUAL EVENTS

  • Predictions with Mark Anderson – Winter
    Join us for Mark Anderson’s annual Predictions for the upcoming year in areas of technology and economics, as well as a review of the previous year.
  • TAG Expo + Job Fair – Spring
    Featuring our innovative business community, this annual event attracts industry professionals, job seekers, students and community members. 2019 will also see Expo as joint event with Linuxfest Northwest.
  • TAG Bash – Summer
    Our premier social event of the year! TAG Bash is a time to celebrate, enjoy community, have fun, and raise funds for our TAG Student Scholarships, which will award a scholarship to one student of each of our partner colleges.
  • TAG Summit – Fall
    Held in late fall, TAG Summit is the premier technology conference in NW Washington and is TAG’s main event. Separate tracks are offered for technology and business to highlight the many advancements and topics of each, including breakout discussion sessions, expert panels, and both national and local speakers.

2. MONTHLY EVENTS

  • Tech Talks
    Returning in 2019: Lunch time tech talks, inviting speakers from the Cascadia Innovation Corridor to present innovative and inspiring presentations to our local community.
  • Evening Socials
    New in 2019: Expanding opportunities to connect, share, and learn more about each other and the organizations sharing the TAG mission.
  • Student Tech Talks
    Working with Western Washington University and Whatcom Coummity College, TAG will be working with local tech companies to help them engage with students in the computer science and related tech fields.
  • Community Groups
    We are helping to bring together different groups within our local tech community who share common interests or work in similar fields to have recurring meet-ups.

  • Membership Benefits
    We are currently working to improve TAG Membership benefits to provide greater incentives to join our organization and community.
  • C-Level Gatherings
    These informal gatherings will provide tech leaders with a regular opportunity to come together and exchange ideas.
  • Communicating TAG’s Territory
    We aim to broaden our territory to more clearly welcome businesses, organizations and individuals outside of Whatcom County.
  • Communicating TAG’s Scope
    A fresh new take on defining “technology” will broaden our partnering industries and associations, and allow for more opportunities for participation.
  • Student Appathons
    Working with business partners and government organizations, we plan to host high school and college appathon challenges.
