WCC Software Development Program – February Update

We have several updates to share: Linked is our draft curriculum and an example software testing internship role in consideration.

WCC Software Development Curriculum Overview

WCC Software Development Testing Internship Example

Our current phase is to establish program partners via discussion with your management team.  We’ll discuss (1) your ability to host WCC software development student intern(s) during their second year in the program, which the first cohort of students would be January-September 2023, (2) your general internship interest and capacity, and (3) general yearly hiring trends.

The goals of these questions are to establish your organization as a program partner, determine needs and capacity in our community as we create the pipeline of talent and skills, and adapt to industry needs.

The primary commitment to become an Industry Partner is the intent to participate in the program by hosting a software development student intern(s). Several other optional activities are in development, such as guest speaking roles, Advisory Committee membership, and curriculum and recruiting activities.

Additional program activities include a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) discussion planned in March, and creation of an Advisory Committee to provide guidance of the Software Development program.

Ultimately, we are excited for this process to create strengthened relationships with our business community with closer partnerships in workforce development. We welcome your participation! Thank you.
