Dear Members & Guests:
MEETING REMINDER
If you haven't already, please consider attending by rsvp'ing below.
Our kick-off topic is of interest to anyone concerned with security.
Topic: “Business relevance of security trends, locally and globally”
Business driven security architecture starts taking on a whole new meaning with federal regulation starting to influence policies and practices in the form of Sarbanes Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, HIPAA and 21CFR Part 11 all taking a part in forming your computer security strategies. This discussion will center around trends we are seeing in network and Internet security both domestically and abroad with some emphasis on how you can prepare your business for new developments in this area.
About Michael Simon:
Mike has been working in computer security and policy development since 1985 when it became clear that not everyone attached to the Internet was trustworthy anymore. Working at the time for the University of Idaho, a regional pioneer in computer security and one of the first NSA Centers of Excellence in Information Assurance Education, Mike built the network laboratory infrastructure used for the research programs that support the center.
For the last 11 years, Mike has been involved in building security awareness and improving the security posture for hundreds of Conjungi customers as it’s CTO. Mike is responsible for designing security policy that protects multiple industries, including health care, biotech, military, streaming media, power infrastructure, water infrastructure, financial institutions, e-commerce and aerospace.
Along with co-founder Corwin Low, Mike feels that corporations must provide value back to the community which allows them to flourish. To that end, Mike provides an environment at Conjungi which encourages interaction between the private sector and law enforcement by allowing himself and employees to spend time with the FBI, Secret Service and local officials and use Conjungi facilities to further our common goals of making the Internet a safer place.
Mike was recently a panelist on WSA’s Annual Predictions Dinner, where noted technology experts present their forecasts for trends in technology development.
Please also note, January is the meeting at which members elect their steering committee members for the new year. A ballot will be available at the meeting, and it will be a quick process.
