Tour the Center for Canadian American Studies and Border Policy Research Institute on January 21.

am-can-flagJoin us on January 21 for a tour and presentation of the Center of American Studies and Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University. CanAm and BPRI are important elements of the WWU "difference" and both serve to link the university faculty and students with the larger policy and business communities in the region and nation.

This presentation will give you the opportunity to learn about the center's programs around teaching and research; outreach to K-12 teachers; outreach to the business community and media. The presentation will include summaries on two recent Border Policy Research Institute Briefs. The first brief relates to the economic impact of the 2010 Olympics for Whatcom County. We will also learn about Border performance metrics, how the BPRI is serving the policy community, why BPRI is doing this and its potential uses for businesses and government.

When: January 21, at 11 to 1PM. The program includes lunch.
Where: Canada House, Western Washington University
TAG will offer carpool opportunities from downtown Bellingham, at 1315 Cornwall Ave. The carpool leaves downtown at 10:45AM.
The tour is limited to 20 people so please RSVP and indicate your interest in carpooling to campus.

Business and Home owners urged to report flood damage

NOTICE FROM THE CITY OF BELLINGHAM
:

As the flood waters recede, we encourage owners of flood damaged homes and business to report their losses. Damage reports will be forwarded to the State for verification and may lead to a request for Federal disaster assistance from FEMA and the Small Business Administration.

To streamline the reporting process for citizens, and to speed the flow of information to the State, jurisdictions within Whatcom County have established a shared damage reporting system to collect reports from county, tribal, and city residents. Owners of primary residences with flood damage to their residence and business owners with flood related property damage have two options to report losses:

Whatcom County:  http://www.whatcomcounty.us/
City of Bellingham:  http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/1264/247966/

Phone. Call (360) 778-8500 to access call center.
