Special Interst Groups for Information Technology Professionals
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) meet to discuss a common interest in a particular topic. SIGs provide excellent opportunities for developing and maintaining professional contacts, promoting industry awareness and extending the technical knowledge of members. SIG meetings are free to TAG members, unless otherwise indicated. Meetings are held regularly, except during the summer months. TAG currently supports two SIGs. Meetings are held in various locations in Bellingham and are open to the public.
The .NET users group provides support for developers that work with Microsoft's .NET technologies. For questions on the .Net users group please visit their website or contact the group leader Andy Robinson.
TAG's special interest group on Security is targeted to people interested in advancing their knowledge about information technology security. For questions on the TAG Security SIG, contact SIG leader Bart Pestarino.
TAG is interested in expanding its local SIG programs. If you are interested in becoming active in a SIG please contact us.
If you are involved or curious to learn more about open source technologies we suggest you check out the Bellingham Linux Users Group. BLUG is an independent group that meets monthly to discuss various open source technologies. For more information contact Carl Symons. BLUG also organizes the annual Linuxfest NW. This popular event is organized by Linux user groups in the Pacific Northwest and take place in the fourth weekend of April each year at the Bellingham Technical College in Bellingham WA. The event is free and open to the public. For more details go to the Linuxfest NW website.
As a TAG member you can attend WTIA's SIG events free of charge. WTIA hosts a number of SIGs such as Developers SIG, Telecom/Wireless SIG, Security SIG, and Networking SIG and most meetings are held in the Seattle area. If you are interested in attending one of these SIGs please contact us for opportunities to carpool.
