Join us on Friday November 16, to learn more about Data Integration and The Criminal Justice System in Whatcom County. Project coordinator Ron Peterson will talk about the Whatcom Exchange Network (WENET) which is a system that enables sharing law and justice data across organizational, jurisdictional and technology boundaries.

The project includes all of the law enforcement agencies in Whatcom County and most recently a state repository with links to the national repositories of law enforcement information.  The project, unlike the others, also includes the law and justice practitioners in the community.  It currently involves information sharing with the Whatcom County Prosecutor's Office and plan to include the other agencies who deal with criminal behavior and the impacts on the community.

Funding has been obtained through the efforts of Whatcom County Executive Pete Kremen.  County Executive Pete Kremen and Josh Nylander, technical lead for the project will be attending to help answer questions.

This will be a popular meeting so please RSVP by clicking as soon as possible.

Date and Time: Friday, November 16 from 12:00 - 1:15 pm.

Location: DIS building at 1315 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA

Cost: Free for members, $10.00 at door for non-members to cover lunch.

More on WENET
WENET is a multi-jurisdictional information sharing project in real to near real time between multiple systems with multiple architectures.  One query is sent out which simultaneously queries multiple records management software applications from multiple agencies.  One composite return displays on the device with emergent action priority items being displayed first.  The return times vary from 4 to 10 seconds on the first return.  The user then has the option to drill down and complete additional queries to gather more information.  The process is done via a multi leveled secure internet connection.

The WENET project has been a collaborative effort of key representatives from each participating agency who understand the daily needs of Officers on the street and the behind the scenes people who manage all the information in their respective agencies.
