TAG attends Tech Tonic at WWU
On June 8th, TAG and TAG members took part in TechTonic at Western Washington University (WWU). This technology exposition was designed to showcase the technologies and technology companies that students encounter while at the University. In addition, TechTonic was intended to spotlight WWU and Bellingham as a regional center for technology education. The Expo is a joint effort of the Student Technology Center (STC) and Associated Students, and will be an annual event serving students, faculty and staff at WWU.
TechTonic exhibitors included national firms such as Adobe, Apple, Dell, Gateway and Microsoft, as well as several local organizations, including TAG members Northwest Computers and the Bellingham Linux Users Group. Apple, Adobe, Microsoft and UbuntuLinux were the featured presenters. Many technical University departments offered fascinating displays of how technology is being used in education.
The Expo organizers are already planning next year’s event. TechTonic will be expanded to include more local technology companies, especially those who could benefit from a closer relationship with the University and the University community.
