There is still space available for the presentation on "Best Practices in Project Management for Technology Projects" presented by Norm Nielsen a certified Project Management Professional.  RSVP for the Friday March 17th meeting by clicking now.

Project management is a hot career path in today’s business environment that continuously demands “faster, cheaper, better.” Nevertheless, evidence indicates there is a lack of project management skills in the labor force. According to a study by Meta Group Inc. more than 75% of 219 IT executives interviewed indicated that a lack of in-house project management skills is a major workforce issue for them.

There are efforts to change this. The leading professional body in project management, The Project Management Institute has established an international standard (ANSI/PMI 99-001-2000) for professional project management with the goal to generate and promote excellence within the project management field. Our speaker Norm Nielsen is the Vice President for Professional Development for the Mt. Baker Chapter of The Project Management Institute and his presentation will focus on this standard. This framework offers a systematic approach to project management that is applicable to projects of all types:  IT, construction, marketing, financial, etc.

With over 25 years experience managing projects Norm has a lot of real life experience to draw on. Norm's latest experience includes implementing a Project Management Framework at Olympic Health Management, a local insurance company, which has resulted in improved planning, resource allocation, quality, communications, and time to completion.

Location: DIS building at 1315 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA
