About TAG

TAG was formed in 1999 as the Bellingham/Whatcom Technology Alliance Group (TAG) to address the needs of a growing technology industry in Whatcom County. As the industry evolved, membership grew and TAG’s mission to promote, educate, and advocate for Northwest Washington technology businesses positively impacted an increasing number of companies.  Today TAG, a 501(6) non-profit organization, is affiliated with the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA), the largest statewide technology association in the nation. TAG serves the technology businesses in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties.

For members in Northwest Washington, TAG offers the advantage of monthly meetings highlighting member businesses and a variety of respected industry speakers. TAG also regularly organize special interest group meetings for information technology professionals as well as popular annual events. Annually our programs attract over a total of 1000 participants. Through our affiliation with the WTIA, TAG members enjoy dual membership with the WTIA. You can view the WTIA programs and member benefits.

As part of our mission TAG advocates for the Northwest Washington technology industry. We do this by providing industry representation on workforce related, labor market, and regulation issues facing the local technology industry. Starting in 2011 TAG will convene a local business forum for identifying and documenting highest impact policy and planning requirements to support needs of existing technology businesses and act as a liaison to the public sector.

TAG has established itself as a go-to organization for information about the technology based industries. Since 2007 TAG has delivered economic development services to foster the development and long-term success of technology companies in Whatcom County.
